Now Where Was I?

Oops, totally forgot to show y'all the finished head wrap!

It's a Wrap

I love it and wear it all the time. It's great for second or third day hair when my curls stay excellent but the front, not so much. I found the pattern through my Naturally Curly group on Ravelry. They've helped me learn SO much about my hair and how to make it look its best. It amazes me that I actually thought I had straight hair!

hair after honey treatment

(I took this piccie after I did a deep conditioning treatment with honey and olive oil.)

Clapotis

You can sorta see what my hair looked like before I discovered it was curly/wavy. I just thought I had unmanageable straight hair. Then I learned to stop brushing it and stop using silicones and sulfates.

Anyhoo--knitting! I just finished a pattern submission, so I am taking a mini knitting break to focus on the house. I neglected it trying to make my deadline. Unfortunately most of what I am and will be working on is Super Secret. BUT, I have a knitting field trip coming up: gonna stalk, oh ahem, meet Amy Singer, the editor of Knitty. Then the following month is the Hill Country Yarn Crawl AND then the next month is Kid N Ewe Fiber Fest. Yarny goodness! I also have that extreme lace surgery to show y'all.

I've been a very bad blogger and I hope to rectify this in the coming days and weeks. Thanks for readin' y'all!

so, how does ya clean your hair and make it curly???

I love your headband! And your hair! I wish I could mine to look like that

Well I used non-sulfate shampoo (Burt's Bees) only on my scalp when it's oily, if it's not I wash with a non silicone conditioner (Suave Naturals) and I condition with Loreal Pro Vive (non silicone). I scrunch my curls with an homemade flax seed gel and sometimes aloe. I never brush it...ever ever. And the honey treatment: that was about a 1/2 cup of honey and a few tables spoons of olive oil left to sit in my hair under a cap for a half an hour and then rinsed out. I always put my hair up to sleep either in a bun or a head scarf. I also sometimes use a water and lavender (with a bit on conditioner) spray for a refresh.

I tend to treat my hair like fine wool--which basically that's what it is.

Thank you so much for posting this. I also thought I had unruly straight hair. Now I am looking at the pictures from the ravelry thread and I am like "no wonder my hair is crazy".

You're welcome, No-Shrinking-Violet! And thank you for stopping by and commenting...

Could you let me know where that pattern can be found? Most head bands give me headaches, but I could try a knitted one. I use non-sulfate shampoo and put some curl enhancing stuff on it. I do brush it once, then scrunch and no more brushing. My hair is fine and tangles badly if I do not brush it out once.

Oops totally forgot to link to it again. (I linked to it the post before). My bad.

Dream Swatch Head Wrap.

Mu hair is fine too, but if I brush it it brushes all the curl out. I use conditioners and finger comb it in the shower.

It's a fun knit! I had great luck with the bamboo...made it really drapey.
